| FAQ DIAMETER C42.
The most frequently asked questions are listed in our mini faq for the C42 diameter.
What does size C42 (42.4mm) mean?
This is the external diameter of the tube recommended for optimal use of the fitting. Therefore, the C42 fittings are designed for tubes with an external diameter of 42.4mm. This allows the screw to attach well to the wall of the tube. The authorized external diameters must be between 41 and 43mm.
My tube is not 42.4mm?
The permitted external tube diameters must be between 41 and 43mm for correct fixation. If your tube is not within this margin, the screw may not contact the wall correctly.
How many cm do the fittings fit on the tube?
C42 fittings cover the tube by an average of 3.5cm, this may differ a little depending on the fitting model. Refer to the technical diagram available on each connection page, below the product description.
How much spacing between 2 vertical posts?
It depends on the type of tubes used as well as the thickness. As a precaution, we recommend reinforcement every 200cm** (2.0m) with the EN 10255 42.4mm (3.2mm) galvanized steel tube. This allows the tube to maintain its load capacity in a horizontal position.
How to attach the fittings to the tube?
To attach the fittings to the tube, simply use a suitable allen key and screw. For professional use on the pass-through contact, you will need to use a ratchet wrench and set a torque of 40Nm*.
Can tubes rust?
No, the galvanized steel tube sold on our site does not rust. It is treated by galvanizing (hot dipping).
How do tubes age over time?
The galvanized steel tube will maintain a uniform appearance indoors and tarnish a little outdoors over time.
Is the 42.4mm tube suitable for a wardrobe hanger?
Yes, the 42.4mm tube can fit on certain handlebars on sale today on the French market, but you will have to untwist them a little to slide properly. The ideal diameter for hangers is the 33.7mm diameter tube.
